12 Vintage YouTubers To Watch While You're Stuck In the House

Right now, everyone is doing the same thing: we’re all sitting in our homes, twiddling our thumbs and trying to figure out what to do with ourselves. It’s a scary and uncertain time and we could all use a distraction. Luckily, we have places to turn. YouTube has everything a vintage-lover needs to pass the time. Whether you’re looking for a tutorial, a unique history lesson, or just a good laugh, there is a content creator for you. Below are 12 vintage YouTube creators who will make your hours stuck indoors a little more entertaining.  

Rachel Maksy

Rachel’s videos are hilarious. Her sense of humour and relatable personality makes her so much fun to watch. With her adorable pup Frodo by her side, she gives us a balanced mixture of vintage and cosplay. Her “But Make It Vintage” series, which she began a year ago, puts her creative skills into use as she takes modern-day characters and restyles them with a more vintage look. Other highlights from her channel are her videos, “I Sewed A Vintage Outfit for My Dog” and “Reading My Old Diary Like It’s a Work of Classic Literature”. She also has plenty of strictly vintage content focused on clothes and hair if that’s more your speed.

Miss Bee Town

Bee Townsend is a socially conscious Aussie living in Great Britain. Her channel focuses primarily on her “Vintage Tips and Tricks” series where she teaches you everything vintage makeup and fashion. She also has some great musical covers she performs on her own and with the other half of her musical duo Bee & Ray, Rachel Marquez. The Miss Bee Town channel also features tons of other videos like day-in-the-life, vlog-style footage, and guides to shopping ethically.

Pinup Savi Monroe

Savi gives us vintage fashion and makeup tips for women of colour. She has such a bubbly, sweet personality and never takes herself too seriously, but does not shy away from providing insightful opinions on what it’s like being a woman of colour in the vintage community. Her sense of humour shines through in her tongue-in-cheek video titles. You will laugh out loud at her sultry makeup tutorial, “Your Husband’s Mistress/The Other Woman”. You can also find videos on vintage jewelry, books, and fashion.  

Karolina Żebrowska

I think a lot of us know Karolina. Whether she’s your historical guru or your meme mom, you can’t help but love her. Historical videos can sometimes be a bit daunting and boring, but Karolina makes history extremely fun and digestible through such gems as, “CLOTHING HAUL + TRY ON but it’s 1608 and you’re a servant” and “Oscars fashion Review but it’s 1954 and you’re watching your neighbors color TV”. Her creativity knows no bounds and you definitely can’t get bored with her channel.

Jessica Vill

Jessica has two channels; her second channel, Jessica Vill, is focused on unique vintage content. Here she does vintage recipe taste tests and tutorials with a bit of princess related content thrown in. Jessica is also a very talented singer, which she demonstrates in a bunch of cover songs she performs on the channel as well. 

Her JBunzie channel is dedicated to some amazing cosplay where she transforms herself into a host of different pop culture characters and teaches you how to do it too.  

Gertie

Gertie, is a sewing dynamo whose channel provides hours of fun vintage sewing projects. Her most recent video release is her “Lamour Dress Class”. This multi-part series teaches viewers to sew a ‘50s halter dress from scratch. Her channel also features instructional sewing videos on shirts, skirts, dresses and more. With all this time on our hands, why not learn to make a cute new dress to wear for when we can finally go out and paint the town red?  

Miss Tammi Savoy

Tammi is an incredible singer with an amazing voice. If some catchy tunes are what you are looking for, her channel has all you need! Her catalogue of videos features covers of classic songs. Some of these videos even feature her fantastically talented daughter Alyssa Joelle, who’s stage performances are on par with that of her mother’s. She has also recently begun doing hair tutorials that focus on doing vintage style on natural hair. Miss Savoy has so much talent and style that will keep you glued to her channel all day!

Miss Semi Sweet

Morgan or Miss Semi Sweet, has a channel full of content that appeals to just about anyone. In her “Retro Recipes” series, she makes and tries out different retro recipes. Her “Hair Goes Nothing” videos are all about trying out vintage hairstyles (if you couldn’t already guess from the title). Another series on her channel is the “Style Evolution” where different online creators in the vintage and pin-up community talk about how their style has changed and evolved to where they are now.  Her channel is delightful, funny and definitely worth a watch. 

Iridessence AKA Jezebelly

Iridessence’s channel is a little bit of hair and a little bit of makeup. Her tutorials are easy to follow and oddly relaxing. If you’re a person of colour looking for a historic hair tutorial, then this is your channel. Her unique content teaches you how to change yourself into historical beauties such as Priscilla Presley or an 18th century beauty or just a traditional vintage girl! 

Jessica Kellgren-Fozard

Jessica’s channel features a slew of vintage fashion hauls and hair tutorials, as well as historical content. She also covers topics such as LGBTQ+, and disability. Jessica is not afraid to tell it like it is. Through her “What Not to Say To…” videos, she teaches people how to be more self-aware and to think about others before they speak. Other videos on her channel like her vlogs and cooking videos feature her equally entertaining wife Claudia and their two dogs.

The Closet Historian

Bianca Esposito elevates the typical fashion video with in-depth dress making tutorials. She also posts fashion look books, where she takes some of your favourite pop culture characters from Star Wars and Harry Potter and creates beautiful vintage outfits for them. These and her other regular fashion look books are done in the style of ‘50s fashion videos with creative sets and voiceovers that are so interesting and enjoyable to watch that they will quickly become some of your favourite content on YouTube. Her channel also has other vintage related content where she showcases her keen eye for putting together some amazing looks. 

A Vintage Vanity

Jennifer’s channel has everything you need for creating the perfect quaff, but that’s not all she’s got to offer. Her Viva Las Vegas vlogs are a fun and hilarious look into her trips to the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend that’s held every year in Las Vegas, Nevada. She also has the “Classy Chicks-Vintage Flicks” series where, together with a few of her vintage-loving pals, they watch and discuss old films. Recently she’s introduced a new series called “The $100 Challenge” where she buys and reviews clothing from online vintage shops, while sticking to a $100 budget. Jen is also a whiz with a sewing machine, which you can see in many of her wonderful sewing tutorials.
